As a closing to Edition 15, and in the spirit of celebrating the XV Anniversary, is the program Experience, the very epicenter of which is live performance and the symbiosis between classic and analog sound, with all the possibilities of digital. With natural light, fresh air, and Sunday rest for the mind and the body, guests can enjoy the festival’s finishing touch. It’s a special presentation by the incredible Brandt Brauer Frick accompanied by the Mexico State Philharmonic Orchestra – with whom they’ve prepared for this live presentation for months – and the return of Kuniyuki Takahashi, whose cool house is brimming with classic touches, and just a bit of jazz.
Paseo de la Reforma 51, Bosque de Chapultepec 1era sección.
Edition 15 marks the third time that MUTEK.MX will celebrate the festival’s close on the esplanade of the Tamayo Museum. The collaboration, having begun in November 2016, aims to bring more and newer audiences into the festival, in a daytime format with an all-ages atmosphere. The celebrations are taken up in a public space that characterizes MUTEK in its Montreal headquarters. From the recent furor over the exhibition of Yayoi Kusama to the watershed retrospective of the Fluxus movement, the Tamayo is an icon in Mexico City’s cultural life. The Tamayo won the National Prize for Science and Arts for architects, Teodoro González de León and Abraham Zabludovsky, and since 2016, it’s provided a framework for the performances and special activities with which MUTEK.MX sums up the spirit of every year’s edition. This year, the esplanade provides a setting for the special performances with which the festival celebrates its XV years, including a collaboration between Brandt Brauer Frick and the Mexico State Philharmonic Orchestra, plus the Mexico return of legendary producer Kuniyuki Takahashi.
