With Nocturne, MUTEK presents a panorama of the most current digital art and sound. From installations, virtual reality, and immersive experiences produced by local and international artists, to cathartic mixing sessions presenting the most challenging club-sound DJs. Nocturne is a convergence of extreme audio electronics, with all new uses of space, light, acoustics, and technology and it makes possible an exploration of the impossible through the virtual, transforming the festival experience into a multidimensional oasis to be explored over the course of an entire evening.
Calle Henry Ford 81, Industrial San Nicolás, Tlalnepantla.
Just 20 km from the center of Mexico City, Fábrica is nestled into a landscape of industrial views mixed with those of a residential suburb. For decades, the space was dedicated to the production of steel and now, after a thorough renovation, it serves as the perfect space for Nocturne, MUTEK.MX’s most diverse program. Fábrica’s industrial atmosphere is amplified and even transformed by the performances and installations of each Nocturne program to make every night into a series of multi-dimensional experiences. Fábrica debuted as a MUTEK.MX venue during Edition 14 (2017), opening new possibilities for Nocturne’s artistic programming and integrating with the installations developed especially for this space. This year, in addition to the Mexico premieres of works by Craig Dorety and Mark Pritchard & Jonathan Zawada for Nocturne 1 and 2, artists Ben Kreukniet & Vincent De Belleval will present Manifolds, a sound intervention in the Fábrica’s Sala A, commissioned by MUTEK.MX for the XV Anniversary celebration.
