The collaboration between the sound artists Camille Mandoki and Sissel Wincent was first conceived by Ensamble management, through its Laboratorio de Arte en Residencia. In the space of just a few days, both artists produced a work which they presented live last June at the Ex-Teresa Arte Actual. For MUTEK Mexico, the piece is expanded and presented within a new context, where the collaborative and exploratory spirit provide a wide space for sound, emotion, and moments at the very vanguard of music.
Mandoki debuted a few years ago at MUTEK Mexico with an experimental song format. More recently, her work has turned to exploration, not only musical, but of the human body in the performance field. As a soloist, or accompanied by collaborators, Mandoki has a trascended and questioned the role of performance on the stage, as voice, idea, and process, and as a guide to the sound that traces her musical path.
Wincent’s field of exploration is towards rhythm, with the body providing the space where frequencies are concentrated, and with the intense pounding of her Live Performances. With influences from Doomcore, Gabber, and experimental Techno, she achieves a new auditory language both primitive and avant-garde at one and the same time.
