Of all of Loke Rahbek’s many projects and collaborations, it’s been with producer Christian Stadsgaard that the visceral and desperate side of his creative spectrum has been most apparent. We need to leave behind the subtle ambient meditations of Croatian Amor and even the melancholic pulse of Body of Water (completed alongside Varg). As part of Damien Dubrovnik, he proved himself an unpredictable audio entity and he’s one with ten years of experience in constant experimentation. That project gave rise to the inimitable Posh Isolation and while Great Many Arrows, his 2017 album, is a good reference to the extremes that the duo is capable of achieving, Damien Dubrovnik is still best-loved for live performances. For all the “happening” and radical improvisation that Rahbek and Stadsgaard can evoke, manipulate, and empower, theirs is an arsenal of sound accumulated over a decade of exploring the electronic possibilities of the dark, the carnal, and the violent. Rahbek is also to perform at MUTEK.MX Edition 15 as Croatian Amor.
