Hospital Productions has been one of the most relevant gears within the world of experimental noise in recent years. Home to Kevin Drumm, Silent Servant, Ron Morelli, Merzbow, Dedekind Cut and dozens of others, it’s where Dominick Fernow, the label head, developed his most notable project, Prurient. 20 years in, Prurient has found refuge within every variant of darkness, from industrial noise, to visceral vocal attacks, and even an exploration of dark meditative places. Fernow summarizes his style as “Doom Electronics” which start with the powerful and destructive dynamic of the dark side of the avant-garde and always avoiding touching bottom in their vertiginous falls. It leaves space for a contemplation of both texture and often suffocating frequencies.
