DRIFTMACHINE

DRIFTMACHINE

In 2013, after having met many times in their musical paths, Andreas Gerth and Florian Zimmer form Driftmachine. Together they create an album which immediately sets itself as a mythical piece that grows with time: Nocturnes, a collection of songs inspired by the reading (and the listening of all the quoted references) of The Rest is Noise by Alex Rose, a book that beautifully comprises the most important musical composers and events of the twentieth century. With the active reading of Rose’s novel, Andreas and Florian polished and refined the weapons they had been building with their previous projects (Tied & Tickled Trio, Saroos), and used them in combo with their modular systems to create layers and layers of rhythms and textures which, with the mixture of styles and genres, convey mesmerizing, grey-hued landscapes similar to the stuff that dreams are made of. His music is apt for self-induced insomnia and the triggering of multiple and diverse moods.
