MUTEKs: Montreal 2015
For more than a decade, Hiroaki Umeda has been exploring in his choreographies and installations, the intersection between the bodily, the optic, the sensorial, and time-space. In “Holistic Strata”, piece to be presented at MUTEK.MX, he looks for the harmony between the natural and the invisible, where his body is melted with the projections which evoke cascades, tornados, lightning, and other non-lineal natural phenomenon. The result is a pixel storm where Umeda’s physical presence impacts the digital environment and his lighter movements affect the totality of this universe; at the same time, these create a living holistic organism which transcends harmony. For the audience, the experience is taken to the edge with a set of emotions which precede the actual materialization of emotions.
