MLF is an award-winning, London-based experiential studio specialized in creating ground-breaking immersive experiences. They work at the intersection of art and cutting-edge technology, employing a wealth of creative disciplines: from photo-real virtual reality, through drone performances and real-time projection mapping. Their expertise has earned them a reputation for creating unique work that pushes boundaries, redefines expectations, and moves audiences worldwide.

In January 2016, their In the Eyes of the Animal (ITEOTA) VR installation had its US premiere at Sundance Film Festival as part of the New Frontiers program. The installation has been nominated for the Design Museum design of the Year (Digital category) and the WIRED Audi Innovation awards. ITEOTA continues to tour all over the world at key arts, film, moving image, tech, design, and VR festivals. For MUTEK.MX they have specially adapted the piece to a world premiere full dome projection.

The team has been nominated for a broad range of notable commercial and arts awards such as the D&AD (Duologue Memex, winner 2015), the Arts Foundation (shortlisted 2015) and BIMA (winner, 2014). In October 2014 MLF, Abandon Normal Devices (AND) and the University of Salford collaborated on ‘Project Daedalus’, exploring the creative application of drones within the arts. It was funded by NESTA / Arts Council England and Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Currently the studio is developing a mixed-reality experience entitled Sweet Dreams which is a collaboration with the multiple Michelin-star awarded chef Heston Blumenthal. And a VR project entitled Tree Hugger which explores the complex ecosystems of iconic trees from across the globe in collaboration with Andrew Byatt from the BBC production Blue Planet.

The team attends many panels and has attended a range of speaker programs including: MIT, Wired, Sundance, NYU, VRLO, CVMP, The BFI, British Council and MUTEK_IMG. In 2015 and 2016 they were Artists in Residence on the Interactive Architecture Lab, Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.

MLF’s core team consists of Creative Directors Barney Steel, Robin McNicholas and Ersin Han Ersin, Executive Producer Eleanor Whitley, and Producer Mike Jones.
