Alec Sander is one of the most active and multifaceted producers of the current Mexican electronic scene, and Mijo is one of his projects. His early taste for synthesizers and for genres spanning from disco to ambient and then to techno, has lead to several projects (La Royale, Yesco, Moon Runner, Douglas Nine, Company…); to several releases under labels such as Her Majesty’s Ship (home to La Mverte or S.R. Krebs), Gomma, Never Stop Music, Maxi Discs; and to the creation of many labels that have set out to expand the borders of Latin music and redefine the Mexican electronic sound (Electrique Music, Disque Discos, Exxxtra Picante…). As Mijo, Alec gives way to dancefloor oriented tracks, sparked by a violent and smiley approach to the Latin, whom they’ve called Mex-tech or high-tech chafa. He will contribute greatly to making the national talent of this year’s edition a substantial and stimulating one.
